In the dying moments, pure elation erupted for Chelsea and interim manager Calum McFarlane as Enzo Fernández bundled in a dramatic equaliser. The goal left Pep Guardiola howling at the heavens and handed the stand-in Chelsea manager a truly golden moment. On paper, Guardiola versus McFarlane was the Premier League's most pronounced managerial mismatch in class, making the memory of Fernández's crucial intervention one to warm the 40-year-old throughout his career.

A Glaring Contrast in Experience

On the home bench was the generation's pre-eminent figure, a man with an unparalleled CV for elite clubs Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City, taking charge of his 1,012th match. In the visitors' dugout, was a former coach at non-league sides Croydon and Whyteleafe, who had served in City's own academy and arrived to make his first-team debut after being temporarily promoted from his regular role overseeing Chelsea's youth teams.
