An extensive 60-day voyage through Australia has been cancelled days after the fatal incident of an elderly woman who was stranded by the ship on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been hiking on the tropical location with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a pause. The vessel departed without her and came back later that day after the crew realised the lady was not present.

An extensive rescue mission discovered her remains the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the tragedy, in coordination with law enforcement and the state coroner.

Head of the cruise operator stated that passengers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the rest of the cruise had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior technical problems".

In a statement, he mentioned that passengers would be provided a complete reimbursement, and said the operator was working "to organize the travel back of the passengers via specially arranged planes".

Officials also issued an updated announcement, and said they had "issued a notice to the Captain" banning any further travelers from entering the liner.

The official said that they would inspect the vessel in Cairns upon its coming back.
