Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising AoT Event for Holiday Season
In a bizarre crossover event that defies conventional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Adventure Disclosed
According to the official statement, "An unusual encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of prohibited practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the shadows." The plot features a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a hidden sect.
The questline concentrates on "peculiar trials and a terrifying foe" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Changes
The preview showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Bonus Features
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an unique katana in addition to several artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Update
This release also adds the game's newest no-cost story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade distinctive abilities: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Previous Japanese Animation Collaborations
This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with famous anime properties. The series earlier included a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally contained a quest that unmistakably referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
